Frequently Asked Questions
What is the local currency?
The current exchange rate is $1 USD = 37 Cordobas, in May 2025. You can withdraw Cordobas when you arrive in Managua at any ATM or bank for a minimal charge. However, literally everywhere American Dollars are accepted, and ATMs will also let you withdraw both currencies. If you are coming from the US, feel free to bring USDs.
Do I need a visa?
When you arrive to Nicaragua, you will have to purchase a tourist card at customs for $10 USD that is valid for 3 months. No credit cards or cheques are accepted so make sure you have cash! So as long as you have a passport that is valid for 6 month or longer, the Nicaraguan government will grant this card to citizens of most countries. Check with your local embassy if you have any doubts.

We have a variety of boards for rental. From small fish until longboard, you will find something similar that you normally ride. However nothing comes close to riding your own board. So if you can feel free to bring it with you.
Do I need an adaptor?
If you’re from North America, you don’t need an adaptor. Nicaragua uses the same as the US. If you are coming from Europe or Brazil, you want to bring an adaptor so that you can use your electronics while at the lodge.
